Golden A' Design Award Winner 2020
Warm honey-toned teak frames curve sinuously through Neogenesis+Studi0261's Nest Commercial Interior, establishing an architectural rhythm that guides the eye along an elegant sweeping trajectory from left to right across this thoughtfully orchestrated spatial composition. The dominant wooden lattice structure, rendered in rich caramel and amber hues reminiscent of natural grain variations, functions simultaneously as partition, visual filter, and sculptural element, its geometric grid of rectangles creating a permeable boundary between interior zones while permitting generous natural light penetration from the glazed facade beyond. Deep charcoal and forest green leather seating, featuring tufted button detailing characteristic of mid-century modern design sensibilities, anchors the foreground with substantial visual weight, the cool darkness of these upholstered forms providing chromatic counterpoint to the surrounding warmth of wood tones. A sophisticated palette emerges through the interplay of natural materials: polished concrete flooring in dove gray, brushed metal ceiling fans with silvered blades, slender copper-finished floor lamps with conical black shades, and abundant verdant foliage including dracaena and palm specimens that introduce organic verticality and biophilic vitality. The spatial organization demonstrates masterful layering, with foreground seating arrangements giving way to middle-ground circulation paths defined by the curvilinear wooden screen, while the background reveals secondary gathering areas through the lattice apertures, creating visual depth without spatial isolation. Overhead, a clean white ceiling with linear wooden trim bands follows the serpentine path of the partition below, establishing a cohesive formal vocabulary that unifies horizontal and vertical planes. The lighting paradigm combines abundant natural daylight filtering through the extensive glazing with the ambient glow of artificial fixtures, producing a luminous yet intimate atmosphere appropriate for contemplative work or relaxed conversation. Compositionally, the image employs an asymmetrical balance wherein the substantial mass of the wooden screen at right counterweights the open spatial volume at left, while diagonal sight lines through the lattice openings invite the viewer's gaze to penetrate successive spatial layers, discovering intimate alcoves and collaborative zones beyond the immediate visual field.
The floor is shared by two unique professionals- advocates and architects that calls for varied hierarchical orders. Choice and detailing of elements was an endeavor to keep the overall look grounded, earthy and to revive the local artistry and building materials. The blend and application of eco-friendly materials, size of openings, all have been driven by recalling the local climate to make an agreeable environment re-arousing the lost practices together structuring sustainable practice.
