Lotus Resort of Jiuhua Moutain Hotel

Kevin Hu's Lotus Resort of Jiuhua Moutain Hotel presents a masterfully orchestrated interior composition where the primary focal point emerges as a monumental live-edge timber reception desk, its organic undulating form commanding the lower register of the frame with sculptural authority, the wood surface displaying complex burl figuring in warm umber, raw sienna, and burnt umber tones that speak to centuries of natural growth patterns preserved in polished permanence. The compositional architecture employs a sophisticated asymmetrical balance, with the massive horizontal timber element anchored against a cool blue-gray stone base that provides chromatic and textural counterpoint, while above, an ethereal pendant luminaire descends from the charcoal-toned ceiling void, its form suggesting organic tendrils or lotus roots rendered in warm golden brass or rattan, creating a vertical accent that draws the eye upward through the double-height space. The background wall presents pristine limestone or marble panels arranged in a precise ashlar pattern, their cream and pale ivory tones establishing a luminous field that amplifies the indirect cove lighting washing down from concealed sources, creating a soft gradient of warm illumination that transitions from golden amber near the ceiling to cooler neutrals at floor level. The spatial construction operates through a sophisticated layering of planes, with the dark ceiling soffit creating a compressed entry zone at left that dramatically releases into the soaring main volume, establishing a phenomenological sequence of compression and expansion characteristic of refined architectural choreography. A sculptural tableau rests upon the timber desk, featuring what appears to be a jade or alabaster carved element set within a naturalistic rocky base, introducing yet another material dialogue between worked and raw, precious and elemental. The blurred figure at right edge suggests human scale and implies movement through this contemplative threshold space, their motion-softened presence reinforcing the processional quality of the environment while maintaining compositional tension through asymmetrical placement.

Located in the core of the south side of the Dayuan Cultural Park in Jiuhua Mountain scenic area, Chizhou City, Anhui Province,China. It was built on the background of Jiuhua Mountain history and the Tibetan culture, integrated various functions such as heart-building, self-cultivation. Meanwhile, as the development requires, now it can also be used as a resort hotel for the local, blending natural landscape and cultural atmosphere to sublimate the space experience to the spiritual level. The design team was commissioned by the interior decoration design.
