Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025
Ahmed Habib's Oxygen Dubai Gym presents a commanding architectural visualization rendered during the evocative twilight hour, where the composition establishes its dominance through a monumental cantilevered concrete frame that extends horizontally across the upper register, creating a powerful geometric portal that simultaneously frames and crowns the commercial structure beneath. The chromatic palette orchestrates a sophisticated dialogue between warm and cool tonalities: the concrete masses exhibit the cool neutrality of raw cement gray with subtle variations suggesting exposed aggregate texture, while the integrated LED strip lighting traces architectural edges in warm amber-gold that reads approximately 2700K, creating thermal contrast against the cerulean and cobalt blue gradations of the twilight sky punctuated by cumulus cloud formations. The compositional architecture follows a clear bilateral near-symmetry with the massive overhead beam serving as a horizontal stabilizing element anchored by substantial vertical piers, while the asymmetrical placement of palm trees introduces organic softening to the rectilinear severity. Spatial construction employs a subtle two-point perspective with the viewing angle positioned slightly below eye level, enhancing the monumentality of the cantilevered element while the reflective wet pavement in the foreground creates a luminous horizontal plane that grounds the composition and introduces material variety through its mirror-like surface capturing light trails suggestive of vehicular movement rendered with extended exposure effects. The façade treatment reveals a layered transparency through extensive glazing systems organized in a rhythmic grid of vertical mullions, behind which warm interior illumination in amber and burnt orange tones suggests active habitation and program, while the ground level presents covered outdoor seating areas beneath cream-colored umbrellas establishing human scale against the heroic structural gestures above. The illuminated sculptural numerals and letterforms positioned centrally function as wayfinding and identity markers, their bulb-studded surfaces creating a retro-contemporary aesthetic tension, while the landscape treatment introduces verdant tropical planting beds with ornamental grasses and low shrubs that mediate between hardscape and architecture with organic texture.
