Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025
Z-work Design's Happy Excursion Model House presents an architectural interior of extraordinary spatial poetry, wherein a sweeping curvilinear screen partition dominates the visual field with its ethereal translucent panels bearing delicate washes of cerulean, teal, soft rose, and muted violet reminiscent of watercolor on silk, creating an atmospheric veil that simultaneously divides and unifies the expansive gallery space. The compositional architecture follows a dynamic curving trajectory from left to right, guiding the viewer's eye along the graceful arc of the screen which rises from polished mirror-finished floor surfaces that reflect and multiply the chromatic subtleties above, establishing a dialogue between solid form and liquid reflection. The ceiling presents a masterful interplay of curved coves emitting warm diffused illumination from concealed sources, contrasting the cool grey matte finish of the primary ceiling plane punctuated by recessed downlights that provide focused accent illumination without competing with the ambient atmospheric glow. Three sculptural objects in lustrous obsidian black occupy the foreground right, their organic biomorphic forms suggesting polished river stones or abstract ceramic vessels, creating essential visual anchors that ground the composition against the floating translucency of the screen. The spatial construction employs atmospheric perspective through the layered transparency of the panels, revealing glimpses of structural columns and distant spaces beyond, while the floor treatment transitions from highly reflective areas suggesting shallow water pools to matte grey stone or terrazzo, establishing varied textural zones. The color harmony operates within an analogous cool palette of blues, blue-greens, and violet-greys, punctuated by subtle warm notes of blush pink and ambient golden light from the cove, achieving chromatic sophistication through restraint rather than saturation. Edge behaviors throughout demonstrate remarkable sensitivity, with soft gradations where ceiling meets wall, hard reflective edges at floor level, and deliberately diffused boundaries within the painted screen panels themselves, creating a hierarchy of visual definition that supports the contemplative atmospheric intention.
