Ebb and Flow Residential Interior Design

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

Ebb and Flow Residential Interior Design by Ching Tze Tu presents a sophisticated interior composition where the eye is immediately drawn to the dramatic interplay between veined white marble wall panels and warm metallic accents of burnished bronze that frame vertical architectural divisions, creating a rhythm of alternating materiality across the background plane. The spatial arrangement demonstrates masterful asymmetrical balance, with two sculptural black lacquered coffee tables of organic ovoid form positioned in the foreground, their glossy obsidian surfaces reflecting ambient light and crowned with polished brass tops that echo the metallic trim throughout. A pair of channel-tufted barrel chairs upholstered in deep oxblood velvet anchor the middle ground, their curved silhouettes providing soft counterpoint to the angular marble geometry. The chromatic palette operates on a sophisticated split-complementary schema, with dominant cool whites and greys of the marble offset by warm accents of cognac, burgundy, and gold. Natural daylight filters through sheer ivory curtains at center, creating a luminous focal point that bathes the space in diffused northern light quality, while subtle shadows model the dimensional fluting of the taupe ceiling cornice. Textural contrasts abound: the veined stone reads as cool and polished, the velvet as yielding and warm, the lacquer as liquid and reflective. A spherical opaline table lamp on a brushed gold base provides intimate accent lighting at right, its milky globe suggesting softened warmth. The composition employs classical one-point perspective drawing the eye through layered spatial planes toward the window aperture, while repoussoir elements of the foreground tables and partial sofa view at lower right create depth and invite the viewer into this refined sanctuary of contemporary luxury that harmonizes organic forms with geometric precision.

Ebb and Flow is a residential interior designed to explore the convergence of coastal aesthetics and urban structure. The spatial layout adopts gentle curves and layered materials to reference the fluidity of waves, while maintaining functional zoning. Contrasts between deep leather tones, alabaster finishes, and titanium plated details help articulate visual depth and subtle motion. Sculptural walls and light reflective surfaces are positioned to evoke the glimmer of water, enhancing the immersive quality of the environment.
