Maison of Silence Residential House

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

Warm walnut planks extend across both floor and ceiling in Timeless Space Design's Maison Of Silence Residential House, establishing an enveloping cocoon of natural material continuity that unifies the spatial experience through horizontal grain directionality, the wood presenting a honeyed umber tonality with subtle variations in figure that suggest quarter-sawn milling techniques producing restrained cathedral patterns alongside quieter straight grain passages. The compositional architecture divides into three distinct spatial zones visible through a carefully choreographed threshold sequence: at left, a recessed entry vestibule presents charcoal-toned cabinetry with the matte texture of mineral-finished surfaces, punctuated by a luminous alcove lined in terracotta-hued material that creates a warm focal glow around a display of ceramic vessels and stacked objects arranged with contemplative precision. This transitional zone features a raised platform of terrazzo flooring with golden aggregate catching subtle uplighting along its curved edge, establishing an elevated threshold ritual before entry into the main dwelling. A sinuous column element with softly radiused corners mediates between entry and dining zones, its pale mineral plaster surface providing chromatic and textural counterpoint to the surrounding wood warmth. The middle ground reveals a circular dining table in rich mahogany tones surrounded by mid-century influenced chairs displaying the characteristic formal vocabulary of Scandinavian modern design, their organic curves and woven seats creating intimate gathering geometry beneath an ethereal pendant fixture of translucent material that appears to float like a luminous cloud. The right foreground presents built-in shelving with integrated linear lighting, the niches lined alternately in warm terracotta and neutral tones, one shelf hosting a delicate fern specimen that introduces organic asymmetry. Lighting throughout demonstrates sophisticated layering: concealed cove illumination within shelving, recessed ceiling fixtures, and the pendant's diffused glow create graduated warmth without harsh shadows, suggesting careful consideration of both functional task lighting and atmospheric effect. The overall chromatic scheme operates within an analogous warm harmony spanning raw umber through burnt sienna and terracotta, modulated by the cool gray accents of the slate-toned cabinetry and pale plaster surfaces, establishing a domestic environment of exceptional material refinement and spatial poetry.

On a peaceful afternoon, sunlight fills the space, illuminating six cats as they roam or lounge on the warm floor. Watching them, thoughts slow naturally, creating a harmonious blend of stillness and movement. The design features a curved screen that opens up the main living area. A 12 meter balcony draws sunlight and greenery through hallway windows, extending light and views into the bedrooms. Embracing minimalism, the design encourages free movement for both humans and cats, crafting a tranquil environment ideal for sharing life with these companions.
