Rich walnut veneers envelop this intimate dining space, their warm reddish-brown grain creating vertical rhythm across walls that rise toward a darkened ceiling punctuated by recessed spotlights casting focused pools of amber illumination. The compositional architecture follows a pronounced diagonal recession from the left foreground counter toward a central doorway featuring an arched aperture that draws the eye into mysterious depth. This doorway functions as the primary focal point, its softened edges and shadowed interior suggesting passage into another realm while simultaneously anchoring the perspectival system. The service counter dominates the left third of the composition, presenting a sophisticated material dialogue between verde antico marble with its characteristic white veining against deep forest green, a luminous honey-toned onyx backlit panel that glows with warm translucency like captured sunlight, and polished brass elements including circular steamer lids that reflect ambient light with metallic warmth. The figure-ground relationship establishes clear spatial hierarchy: the substantial counter mass grounds the foreground while the seating zone at right creates a secondary spatial pocket defined by a continuous burgundy leather banquette whose rich crimson hue provides chromatic counterpoint to the dominant wood tones. Green marble tabletops echo the counter material, establishing visual continuity through repetition. The floor presents veined gray-white marble arranged in irregular geometric patterns suggesting geological formation, its cool tonality providing necessary contrast to the pervasive warmth above. Illumination operates on multiple registers: the dramatic backlit onyx creates a theatrical glow, recessed ceiling fixtures provide focused task lighting, and a delicate amber-toned sconce at right offers accent luminosity. A blackboard menu with handwritten script in chalky whites and pinks occupies the upper left, introducing textural contrast through its matte surface against surrounding reflective materials. Wooden stools with saddle-shaped seats demonstrate considered craftsmanship in their joinery. This project is located in Tainan, regarded as the most historically significant city in Taiwan. Therefore, the design concept aims to present various materials in their original forms to create spatial depth while showcasing the rustic charm of Tainan. The concrete bar counter serves as the core of the space, surrounded by copper plates and raw wood veneers that will change in appearance over time. This symbolizes the unique culture of Tainan, which has developed through historical transitions and evolution.
