Guo Xiangyu's Zhumadian Hotel Design presents a masterfully orchestrated interior aquatic environment where the elongated rectangular swimming pool serves as the compositional spine, drawing the eye along a powerful one-point perspective that terminates in luminous distance through floor-to-ceiling glazing or illuminated panels depicting ethereal mountain landscapes rendered in traditional ink-wash aesthetic translated into monumental scale. The chromatic orchestration demonstrates sophisticated restraint, establishing a dialogue between the cerulean and aquamarine hues of the pool water, which occupy the lower third of the composition with their gentle rippling surface catching ambient illumination, and the cool blue-grey tonalities of the panoramic landscape mural that extends the entire left wall, depicting layered mountain ridges dissolving into atmospheric mist in gradations from Payne's grey through powder blue to pale silver-white. The ceiling presents a striking horizontal rhythm through dark bronze or umber-toned linear slats that create a pronounced textural counterpoint to the smooth aqueous surfaces below, their parallel bands establishing a visual tempo that accelerates the perspectival recession while grounding the composition with warm earthen tonality. The right wall introduces architectural articulation through vertical pilasters or columns in striated stone suggesting travertine or limestone, their warm taupe and cream striations providing thermal contrast to the cool aquatic palette, punctuated by vertical amber light fixtures that cast intimate warm pools of illumination along the corridor edge. Living botanical elements introduce organic vitality through strategic placement of verdant foliage, including a prominent bright green plant emerging from a planter within the pool area and lush vegetation visible in the foreground right, their saturated chlorophyll greens providing chromatic punctuation against the otherwise restrained mineral and aqueous palette. The spatial construction achieves remarkable depth through the combination of actual architectural recession, the illusionistic mountain vista suggesting infinite atmospheric distance, and the reflective pool surface that doubles and extends the vertical dimensions through mirror-like duplication of ceiling and mural elements.
The design follows Zhuangzi aesthetics, emphasizing simplicity, spontaneity, and freedom from societal norms. The lobby continues the essence of traditional Chinese architecture by combining a simple and natural style with modern elements. The restaurant showcases black, white, and high-end gray tones with ink elements infused into every detail. The display cabinet presents delicate dishes with light and shadow. The wooden, dark-colored Chinese mortise and tenon structure ceiling in the swimming pool area echoes with white. The overall space showcases the simplicity of Eastern aesthetics.
