Golden A' Design Award Winner 2024
SHXDAL's World Laureates Forum Permanent Site presents a breathtaking interior volume where radial architectural elements converge upon a luminous central oculus, establishing an immediate visual hierarchy that draws the eye inexorably upward toward celestial light. The compositional architecture employs a masterful radial symmetry emanating from the geometric skylight, where concentric circles of bronze-toned framing contain a delicate tracery pattern reminiscent of sacred rose windows, rendered in ethereal cerulean and sky blue hues suggesting atmospheric depth and transcendence. White vertical ribs cascade downward from the ceiling's perimeter in elegant parabolic curves, creating a rhythmic visual pulse that transforms the cylindrical volume into what appears as an abstracted flower or organic form reaching toward illumination. The chromatic palette maintains exceptional restraint, dominated by pristine titanium white surfaces that reflect and diffuse the cool daylight streaming through the oculus, punctuated only by the warm honey and bronze tones of the wooden conference furniture arranged in a horseshoe configuration at ground level, and the soft taupe and cream upholstery of tiered seating areas flanking the central space. The lighting paradigm achieves remarkable sophistication through the interplay of natural zenithal illumination filtered through the geometric skylight and discrete integrated fixtures embedded between the ceiling ribs, creating a soft ambient luminosity without harsh shadows. Spatial construction employs classical one-point perspective with the oculus serving as the vanishing point, while the curved walls eliminate corners and create a sense of infinite continuity. The textural vocabulary contrasts the smooth, almost liquid quality of the white architectural surfaces against the warm tactile presence of natural wood grain, establishing a dialogue between technological precision and organic materiality that evokes contemporary parametric design principles while honoring traditions of ceremonial gathering spaces.
The construction of the World Laureates Forum Permanent Site combines the use and application of new materials, new techniques, and new technologies to achieve the best presentation effect for the entire project. Furthermore, through the utilization of digital design assistance, cost control, and process management, the efficiency of project construction, as well as the precision of fabrication and installation, have been effectively enhanced, resulting in the intrinsic qualities of green, environmentally friendly, and safe construction.
