Guangzhou Zhujiang Tianli Sales Center

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2024

Zhi Duan's Guangzhou Zhujiang Tianli Sales Center presents an extraordinary corridor composition dominated by a deep, lustrous ceiling of obsidian-like reflective material punctuated by constellation-like azure blue LED points that create a celestial canopy effect, drawing the eye along a dramatic one-point perspective that terminates in an undulating metallic sculptural wall element suggesting liquid mercury frozen in motion. The spatial architecture employs a strong central axis reinforced by parallel linear LED strips embedded within diagonal ceiling channels that converge toward the distant focal point, creating an almost hypnotic sense of depth amplified by the highly polished floor surface—a dark blue-gray stone with dramatic veining patterns reminiscent of lapis lazuli or sodalite—that mirrors the overhead illumination and suspended sculptural elements, effectively doubling the perceived spatial volume. The chromatic palette orchestrates a sophisticated interplay between cool dominants—deep teals, cerulean blues, and cool silver-grays—against strategic warm accents including a striking vermillion-red latticed sculptural chair at right, coral-pink organic forms, and warm copper-bronze patinated wall surfaces that provide thermal contrast. Suspended iridescent disc-like pendants in violet, magenta, and peacock blue create a rhythmic vertical punctuation through the central corridor space, their surfaces catching and refracting light in prismatic displays suggesting soap bubbles or cosmic phenomena. The left wall features a monumental panel of oxidized copper or bronze with vivid verdigris patination ranging from deep forest greens to brilliant turquoise, positioned behind a sculptured reception counter with organic curves that echo marine or geological formations. Lighting operates on multiple registers: the ambient starfield ceiling creates mystery and vertical extension, the linear LED channels provide navigational clarity and perspectival emphasis, and localized accent lighting highlights the sculptural furnishings and art objects. The material vocabulary speaks to luxury and transformation—oxidized metals suggesting alchemical processes, reflective surfaces proposing infinite extension, organic sculptural forms evoking natural growth patterns—all unified within an atmospheric envelope that suggests an otherworldly threshold space between the quotidian exterior and an interior realm of elevated experience.

The design of the Guangzhou Zhujiang Tianli Sales Center aims to bridge the gap between art and design, fashion and architecture, creating an experience center that is both functional and artistic. The ambiance of the entire space is crafted through a science-fiction and ultra-futuristic experiential creation, employing thematic compositions to simulate the adventure of time travel. By confronting individuals with the vastness of the universe, it ignites curiosity about the existence of life, thereby creating an immersive experiential space.
