Tianxia Chuanjiang Exhibition Center

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2024

Luminous zenithal light floods the soaring double-height atrium of SHENZHEN LUSHANG DESIGN CO,.LTD.'s Tianxia Chuanjiang Exhibition Center, where an expansive glazed skylight system creates a cathedral-like quality of natural illumination that bathes the polished charcoal-grey marble flooring in ethereal reflections and establishes a contemplative atmosphere of spatial grandeur. The compositional architecture employs a sophisticated asymmetrical balance, with the primary focal point established by a dramatically suspended sculptural installation resembling a traditional wooden vessel form rendered in warm honey-toned timber with delicate linear striations that reference regional craft heritage and riverine cultural memory. This sweeping curvilinear element occupies the upper left quadrant, its graceful parabolic silhouette creating a dynamic diagonal vector that guides the viewer's eye downward toward the central exhibition display—an elegantly curved white presentation island containing meticulously detailed architectural scale models showcasing verdant landscaping in fresh spring greens against miniature building forms. The chromatic palette achieves remarkable sophistication through the interplay of warm golden timber tones against cool grey architectural surfaces, with accent illumination provided by suspended spherical pendant fixtures in opalescent white that create a constellation-like rhythm across the vertical expanse. The right portion of the composition features a magnificent latticed screen wall constructed from vertical golden metal members arranged in rhythmic intervals, evoking traditional bamboo construction while achieving a contemporary geometric refinement that filters ambient light and establishes spatial layering between the primary exhibition zone and secondary functional areas visible beyond. The spatial construction employs atmospheric perspective through the progressive softening of architectural details in the background zones, where floor-to-ceiling glazing reveals exterior landscape elements that extend the visual field beyond the interior boundaries. Material relationships demonstrate exceptional curatorial sensibility: the cool specular reflectivity of the stone flooring creates a mirror-like quality that doubles the perceived spatial volume, while the warm matte surfaces of the timber installation provide tactile counterpoint. The facture reveals meticulous attention to joinery and craft, particularly evident in the suspended vessel form where individual wooden members are precisely aligned to create both structural integrity and visual transparency.

The overall design of Tianxia Chuanjiang Exhibition Center unites architecture, interior and landscape in a balanced manner, allowing for a permeable integration between them. Using a combination of contemporaneity and artistry, it emphasizes the relationship between people, nature, fields, and materials, using a deeper, more comprehensive perspective to think about and define the connection between people and space, aiming to make people feel the coexistence of beauty and spirit.
