Silver A' Design Award Winner 2024
Vibrant luminosity defines the spatial environment of Centrestage 2022 Event Organiser Space, where an extraordinary synthesis of chromatic intensity and geometric dynamism creates an immersive theatrical experience that commands immediate visual engagement through its bold deployment of saturated magenta flooring transitioning through gradients of violet, teal, and chartreuse, establishing a chromatic field that anchors the entire compositional architecture while multiple suspended circular LED structures descend from the exposed industrial ceiling truss system, their concentric rings wrapped in op-art patterns of black and white striped graphics alternating with holographic rainbow surfaces that shimmer with prismatic iridescence, the central suspended element functioning as the gravitational focal point around which all other visual elements orbit in carefully orchestrated spatial relationships, the composition employing radial symmetry emanating from this central chandelier-like installation while asymmetrical balance is achieved through the strategic placement of illuminated cylindrical kiosks along the left periphery displaying geometric animations of pink spherical forms against deep indigo backgrounds, the golden metallic framing of these cylindrical structures providing warm accents that complement the cool neon edge lighting in electric blue and amber that traces curvilinear pathways across the floor plane, the background wall system presents a maximalist collage aesthetic incorporating diagonal zebra stripes, checkerboard patterns, and bold typographic elements spelling the event name in gradient yellow-to-green letterforms, additional environmental graphics include enlarged fashion imagery and geometric abstractions creating visual density that rewards extended contemplation, the lighting paradigm combines theatrical spotlight illumination from overhead grid-mounted fixtures with ambient glow from the LED installations and neon edge treatments creating multiple overlapping pools of colored luminosity, spatial depth is articulated through layered planes of activity zones defined by the curved floor markings and elevated circular platforms with metallic gold trim, the overall effect suggests a contemporary interpretation of carnival atmosphere filtered through digital age aesthetics, the stylistic vocabulary draws upon Memphis Group exuberance, Vaporwave digital nostalgia, and contemporary experiential design practices, surface textures range from the matte industrial flooring to reflective metallic finishes and glossy LED screens, edge treatments throughout favor crisp geometric definitions punctuated by soft luminous halos where neon tubes meet architectural surfaces.
Asia's premier fashion event Centrestage was held from 9 - 11 Sep 2022. The extravaganza brought together more than 240 fashion brands from 15 countries and regions, offering visitors a trip through numerous phygital experiences, including visits to the metaverse. A number of different interactive experiences were featured at the fairground. The Centreverse, jointly developed by Microsoft AltspaceVR and Mirum, where visitors can create their own fashion avatars and interact with others in a virtual world.
