Silver A' Design Award Winner 2023
Olha Takhtarova's Una Luna Collection Candy Packaging presents a striking diagonal array of rectangular confectionery boxes arranged in rhythmic repetition across the visual field, each unit functioning as an individual canvas showcasing distinct chromatic explosions against uniformly deep sable grounds approaching true black in value. The compositional architecture employs a dynamic diagonal grid approximately thirty degrees from horizontal, creating visual momentum that guides the eye from lower left to upper right while the repetitive modular format establishes a crystallographic balance pattern. Each package surface features abstracted organic forms rendered with luminous saturation: one variant presents ethereal spheroid volumes wrapped in spiraling bands of viridian, chrome yellow, and cerulean suggesting planetary bodies or unfurling botanical forms; another displays gestural brushwork in cadmium orange and vermillion evoking flame-like energy or exotic plumage; a third presents soft petal-like ellipses in gradations of magenta, coral, and dusty rose with delicate textural stippling; yet another shows horizontal striations in cobalt and ultramarine with white intervals suggesting horizon lines or aqueous movement. The typographic elements employ an elegant gold-toned serif and san-serif combination arranged vertically in the upper portion of each box, with the brand identity positioned consistently while flavor descriptors in Cyrillic script anchor the lower regions. Luminosity emanates from within the illustrated elements themselves, employing additive color effects where lighter values bloom outward from saturated cores, creating implied radiance without external light source indication. The matte black substrates function as optical voids that maximize chromatic contrast and establish premium positioning through the sophistication of negative space deployment. Edge treatment varies strategically: organic illustrated elements feature soft atmospheric transitions and feathered boundaries suggesting movement and energy, while typographic elements maintain crisp hard edges ensuring legibility. The overall visual system demonstrates contemporary packaging design sensibilities that merge artisanal illustration quality with systematic brand architecture, achieving both individual expression across variants and cohesive family recognition through consistent structural grammar.
The new Una Luna collection of chocolates is based on original liqueurs and Italian chocolates. But it's not only the unusual flavors that make this collection stand out. The packaging design is inspired by the energy of each flavor, presented abstractly with unexpected strokes and brush strokes created by the designer. When you take a box of Una Luna chocolates in your hands, you will feel like you are opening a real work of art and when you take your first bite, you will be able to feel all its combinations.
