Sum Teahouse

The compositional architecture employs a sophisticated interplay between curvilinear and rectilinear geometries, with the dominant ceiling element's flowing biomorphic contours counterbalanced by the orthogonal discipline of floor-to-ceiling windows dressed in natural woven blinds that filter exterior illumination into a diffused, pearl-like luminosity. The chromatic palette orchestrates a refined dialogue between warm timber tones spanning from pale ash to deep espresso, with the ceiling's amber-gold wood grain radiating warmth across middle values while the curved banquette partition below introduces cooler chocolate and ebony striations that anchor the composition tonally. Tertiary chromatic notes emerge through terracotta and cognac leather upholstery on the seating, small verdant accents from potted plants atop circular tables, and the subtle warmth of brushed metal in the central support column that descends from the ceiling's apex like an architectural umbilical cord. The lighting paradigm achieves remarkable subtlety, combining abundant natural daylight from the glazed perimeter with recessed ceiling points that create intimate pools of illumination, while the wood grain itself seems to possess an inner luminescence suggesting beeswax or polished caramel. Edge treatment throughout demonstrates sophisticated restraint, with the ceiling canopy's perimeter describing a crisp yet gentle arc against the white surround while transitions between materials maintain clarity without harshness. Stylistically, the interior resonates with contemporary organic modernism, suggesting affinities with the biophilic sensibilities of Kengo Kuma and the warm minimalism of hospitality spaces that honor craft tradition while embracing sculptural innovation, positioning this work within a lineage of spaces that seek to reconcile human comfort with architectural aspiration.

The original intention of the project design is to build courtyards and buildings in the interior space, which can comfort people's hearts and guide people into the space without intention, just like the natural function, although tea drinking has traditional attributes, it is by no means an old thing. Following the tradition and combining the modern, the designer has folded the space.
