Tibet Shannan Corporate Identity

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2023

Vibrant turquoise, marigold yellow, and crimson red converge in HE LIU's Tibet Shannan Corporate Identity, presented as a diagonal arrangement of postage stamps against a pale dove-gray surface that evokes the textured quality of handmade paper. The compositional architecture employs a dynamic diagonal grid rotating approximately forty-five degrees from the picture plane, creating visual energy and forward momentum through the repetition of square stamp forms with characteristic perforated edges rendered in soft white. Each stamp presents a bipartite structure: the left portion features an intricate pattern of organic, flowing shapes—curvilinear forms suggesting traditional decorative motifs abstracted into contemporary graphic language—while the right section displays a deep navy blue field bearing elegant wavy cancellation lines in lighter blue, alongside what appears to be script characters in the lower left corner of select stamps. The chromatic strategy deploys a triadic harmony anchored by cerulean and teal blues, cadmium yellow deepening to ochre, and vermillion accents punctuating the otherwise cool-warm dialogue. The pattern work exhibits remarkable density, with interlocking biomorphic shapes creating an allover composition within each illustrated section that recalls both traditional textile design and modernist abstraction. Spatial depth remains deliberately shallow, emphasizing the graphic flatness appropriate to philatelic and identity design while the overlapping arrangement of stamps creates subtle layering. The lighting presents as even and diffused, suggesting professional product photography that eliminates harsh shadows while maintaining crisp edge definition. Surface texture is implied through the paper-like quality of both the stamps and their supporting surface, with the perforated edges casting minimal shadows that lend dimensionality. The stylistic approach synthesizes cultural heritage motifs with contemporary minimalist design sensibilities, suggesting affinities with mid-century modern graphic design while incorporating regional decorative traditions into a cohesive visual identity system.

Tibet Shannan project aimed at promoting the tourism industry in Shannan. By creating a representative logo to extend the impression of the city through systematic products and tourist guides. The inspiration for the logo is drawn from the features of Shannan and simplified into symbols through contemporary art. The logo itself is versatile and scalable, able to seamlessly integrate into different products. This work hopes to bring a positive and interesting energy to the audience, better meeting the needs of the modern market and helping this ancient city showcase its diverse aspects.
