Meishan East Town Centers and Base

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2023

Sweeping ribbons of luminous white architecture unfurl across this aerial composition, where Wuxi Cheng Ao Real Estate Co., Ltd's Meishan East Town Centers and Base presents itself as a sinuous intervention within a verdant landscape punctuated by reflective water bodies and undulating hills that recede toward a hazy atmospheric horizon. The primary structural form commands immediate attention through its dynamic S-curve configuration, a continuous flowing gesture rendered in pristine white cladding panels that appear to hover above grade level, supported by glazed curtain wall systems of deep teal-blue glass that provide visual transparency and establish rhythmic horizontal striations along the building's considerable length. The compositional architecture adheres to principles of dynamic movement rather than static symmetry, with the serpentine roofline creating a powerful directional vector that guides the eye from the lower right foreground through sweeping curves toward the middle ground lake and ultimately toward distant architectural companions positioned strategically around the water's edge. The chromatic palette demonstrates sophisticated restraint, dominated by titanium white and pearl gray tones of the primary structure, counterbalanced by the viridian and olive greens of mature deciduous and coniferous vegetation, the cerulean reflections of the central lake, and the slate blue-gray of asphalt roadways that provide geometric counterpoint to organic curves. Natural illumination arrives from a high overcast sky, creating soft diffused lighting conditions that minimize harsh shadows while allowing the architecture's volumetric complexity to register through subtle gradations of value across curved surfaces. Atmospheric perspective operates effectively in the background where successive mountain ridges dissolve into progressively lighter values of blue-gray, establishing considerable spatial depth. The textural vocabulary contrasts the smooth, almost liquid quality of the white architectural skin with the granular texture of vegetation masses and the mirror-like planarity of water surfaces. Secondary architectural elements distributed throughout the campus echo the biomorphic vocabulary of the primary structure, including a companion building across the lake featuring similar curvilinear roof forms and another structure at left displaying dynamic angular geometries. The overall atmospheric resonance suggests optimistic forward-looking civic ambition harmoniously integrated with natural topography.

The Meishan East New Town Three Centers and One Base not only needs to reflect the historical context of the city, but also have spatial attributes that provide consultation, service, education, culture and entertainment for the citizens. Blending into Nature, preserving the mountains and waters, To break the serious space impression of the traditional Citizen Service Center, Graceful curve and white architectural skin blends with the surrounding environment, making it attractive, Making it a unique cultural landmark in Meishan, increasing the environmental and land value of the area.
