Sky Lounge Restaurant and Bar

Hundreds of cylindrical brass-toned tubes cascade from the ceiling in Ketan Jawdekar's Sky Lounge Restaurant and Bar, creating an undulating sculptural canopy that dominates the upper two-thirds of the composition and establishes an immediate sense of dramatic verticality and kinetic energy frozen in material form. The tubular elements, finished in warm burnished gold reminiscent of aged bronze or antique brass, vary in length to produce a wave-like topography that flows organically through the space, descending from the upper left corner where they appear densest and most closely packed, then rippling across the ceiling plane with rhythmic undulation suggesting both natural phenomena and deliberate architectural orchestration. The chromatic palette operates within a sophisticated warm-to-cool gradient: the dominant golden-amber tubes occupy the illuminated foreground while transitioning through deeper bronze and umber tones into cool violet-tinged shadows in the receding middle distance where the installation continues beyond immediate view. Directional lighting from concealed sources creates specular highlights on the curved metallic surfaces, generating countless small crescents of reflected brilliance that activate the texture and emphasize the three-dimensional relief quality of the installation. The compositional structure employs a powerful diagonal thrust from upper left to lower right, with the cascading tubes functioning as both ceiling treatment and spatial divider, leading the eye through the restaurant toward the distant dining area visible in the background. Dark charcoal-gray walls finished with a matte surface provide essential visual grounding, their cool neutrality offering necessary contrast that allows the warm metallics to command attention while preventing visual overwhelm. The lower register reveals the functional hospitality space beneath this dramatic canopy: cream-upholstered banquette seating, wooden chairs with warm honey-toned frames, and simple rectangular dining tables set with white napkins create an intimate human-scaled counterpoint to the architectural spectacle above. A circular illuminated signage element in cyan and yellow neon provides a contemporary accent that bridges the warmth above with cooler technological elements, its geometry echoing the circular apertures of the tubes themselves. The spatial construction employs atmospheric perspective as the installation recedes into cooler, less saturated tones, while the one-point perspective of the corridor-like arrangement draws viewers into the depth of the space.

Kolhapur is known for rich heritage of art, architecture and culture of India. The suburb of Kolhapur is a textile hub of India. Designers have taken local context and have used recycled Paper Tubes that are used to roll the fabric. Creating an experience through fusion of sustainable and Natural Materials with organic pattern is the key factor in this design. Designers have taken advantage of natural breeze through to evolve the concept of creating interactive ceiling. Waves formed by the pattern of paper tubes oscillate with the wind that creates drama and interaction keeps guests engaged.
