Silver A' Design Award Winner 2022
A striking vermillion disc tilts at an evocative angle atop a slender matte black stem, creating an immediately arresting focal point within Chromosome (Hangzhou) Design Co., Ltd.'s Hat Lamp composition, where the saturated cadmium red interior of the shade contrasts dramatically with the surrounding environment of raw concrete panels rendered in values ranging from cool dove gray to charcoal, the compositional architecture employing an asymmetrical balance with the lamp positioned in the left third of the frame while warm honeyed light projects onto the wall behind creating a luminous rectangular glow with horizontal striations suggesting the passage of light through louvered apertures, the spatial construction presents a shallow yet atmospheric depth with the concrete wall serving simultaneously as backdrop and canvas for the projected light pattern, textural interplay emerges between the industrial roughness of the concrete with its mottled surface variations and troweled imperfections against the smooth machined precision of the metal lamp components, the chromatic scheme operates on a sophisticated complementary tension between the warm red-orange of the shade and the cool blue-gray undertones of the concrete while the projected amber light creates a tertiary thermal gradient bridging these extremes, shadow behavior reveals soft penumbral transitions where the lamp's stem meets the dark floor plane while the cast glow exhibits crisp horizontal banding suggesting controlled optical engineering, the overall atmospheric resonance evokes a contemplative industrial aesthetic aligned with contemporary minimalist design philosophy, suggesting affinities with Scandinavian lighting traditions while incorporating distinctly modern material sensibilities, the frozen stillness of the composition invites sustained meditation on the interplay between manufactured object and architectural surface, light and shadow, warmth and coolness, the singular lamp standing as both functional illumination source and sculptural presence within the restrained spatial envelope.
When the Hat Lamp is turned on, it is as if the sunlight illuminates the silhouette through the invisible blinds. It allows users to touch the warm memories in the subconscious, as if they are in a warm living room, so they can become calm and enjoy the good time of the moment. When the user wants to change the moment of sunshine, he just needs to change the hat. The Hat Lamp is not only elegant in shape, the square base and round hat also represent Yin and Yang in Chinese culture respectively, forming a state of the sky is round and the earth is square.
