Sakakini Fragrance Packaging

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2022

A resplendent still life arrangement emerges from the depths of an enveloping charcoal background, where Amr Ibrahim Mousa's Sakakini Fragrance Packaging commands the visual hierarchy through its ceremonial placement upon a tiered cylindrical pedestal of matte black stone or ceramic material bearing elegant serif typography. The central perfume vessel exhibits an extraordinary domed cap rendered in antiqued gold with intricate repoussé ornamentation featuring classical architectural motifs, diminutive figural elements, and a slender spire finial that pierces the upper atmosphere of the composition like a minaret reaching toward celestial realms. Beneath this ornate crown, the transparent glass body reveals amber liquid graduating from deep mahogany at the base through burnt sienna to luminous golden honey tones near the shoulder, creating an internal chromatic gradient suggestive of precious resinous substances. The compositional architecture follows a triangular schema with the perfume bottle at apex, flanked by two sculptural objects that establish bilateral asymmetry: to the left, an ovoid black vessel with elongated neck embraces a secondary form in brushed champagne gold featuring an organic teardrop aperture, while to the right, a bulbous gourd-shaped vase in the same matte obsidian finish supports dried botanical specimens whose ochre and wheat-colored branches extend upward in delicate counterpoint to the rigid metallic spire. The lighting paradigm employs a dramatic chiaroscuro effect with warm directional illumination from the upper left, causing the gold elements to glow with almost supernatural radiance while the black ceramic surfaces absorb light to create profound depth. Textural contrasts abound between the hammered metallic surfaces, the smooth translucency of glass, the granular matte finish of the black vessels, and the brittle organic quality of the dried branches. The spatial construction maintains a shallow relief-like arrangement against the infinite dark ground, evoking the contemplative atmosphere of seventeenth-century Dutch vanitas paintings while simultaneously channeling the refined minimalism of contemporary luxury presentation aesthetics.

The magnetic dome on the top of the bottle is the exact dome from the Sakakini Palace with its glorious rococo features as the intent is to remind people of the beauty of this abandoned building in a touchable way. The task was to create a luxurious and sophisticated product, package, and brand. It will promote Egypt's forgotten architecture and help save this rich heritage through the profits of the sales.
