Silver A' Design Award Winner 2022
Hu Sun's Art One Residential Exhibition Area presents a masterfully orchestrated landscape composition where contemporary minimalist architecture converges with organic topographical interventions to create a spatial narrative of exceptional sophistication, the eye immediately drawn to the sinuous white sculptural bench that curves through the composition like a frozen river or calligraphic brushstroke, its serpentine form creating a dynamic S-curve that guides visual movement across the meticulously manicured lawn panels of verdant emerald green, this central sculptural element terminates in an elliptical reflecting pool whose dark mirror surface captures and inverts the surrounding environment, establishing a contemplative threshold between solid and void, presence and reflection, the chromatic architecture of this scene operates through a carefully calibrated palette where the saturated vermillion of the glazed pavilion structure at left provides the singular chromatic accent against an otherwise restrained tonal field of cool grays, warm stone tones, and organic greens, this red glass cube functioning as a jewel-box element that energizes the entire composition through complementary contrast with the surrounding verdure, the spatial construction employs atmospheric perspective with remarkable subtlety as towering glass-curtain structures rise in the background, their grid-like facades rendered in soft blue-gray tones that establish depth while maintaining urban contextual dialogue, deciduous trees with characterful branching patterns provide vertical rhythm and organic counterpoint to the geometric precision of architectural elements, their spring-green foliage creating dappled overhead canopies that filter diffused daylight across the scene, a solitary figure in dark attire stands at the illuminated threshold of the gray stone pavilion, providing essential human scale and narrative presence, the figure's contemplative stance suggesting pause and appreciation, the lighting conditions indicate either golden hour or overcast sky producing soft, even illumination without harsh shadows, allowing materials to reveal their true chromatic character, ground plane treatment shows exceptional attention to material transition where manicured grass meets dark aggregate pathways meets pale stone steps, each junction articulated with embedded linear lighting that emphasizes topographical undulation and creates processional guidance during evening hours
Art One is a landscape design for a residential exhibition area in Shenzhen. The terrain is varied along the axis of the site, and surrounding natural resources are introduced. A group of trees is planted in the core area to form a microclimate and to make the original forest the highlight of the site. An art gallery connects the spaces and includes hollow-carved elements and color blocks. Four functional boxes are placed within the green environment to create experience spaces. The landscape design area covers 6700 square meters.
