Hu Sun's Guiyang New Community Park Residential Exhibition Area presents a masterful aerial perspective that transforms landscape architecture into living cartography, where sinuous pathways inscribed in pale cream traverse verdant terrain like calligraphic brushstrokes rendered upon an emerald scroll. The compositional architecture employs a sophisticated diagonal dynamic, with the curvilinear pedestrian routes creating rhythmic S-curves that guide the eye from the residential towers anchoring the lower register through progressively naturalized zones toward the serene teal waters occupying the upper third. The chromatic orchestration demonstrates remarkable restraint and harmony, juxtaposing the deep viridian of mature tree canopies against the sage and chartreuse of manicured lawns, while the aquamarine lakes provide cooling counterpoint to the warm ochre undertones visible in exposed earth and pathway materials. The organic exhibition structures in the right middle ground echo biomorphic modernism, their amoeboid footprints containing reflective water features that mirror the sky and surrounding vegetation in miniature. Light falls from an elevated angle suggesting late morning or early afternoon, creating subtle shadows that define topographic undulation and tree volume without harsh contrast. The spatial construction achieves remarkable depth through atmospheric perspective, with distant shorelines softening into blue-green haze, while the textural gradient progresses from the crisp geometric precision of architectural elements to the increasingly organic and diffuse vegetation masses. The figure-ground relationship demonstrates exceptional sophistication, with positive landscape forms interlocking with negative water bodies in a continuous visual dialogue reminiscent of yin-yang cosmological principles translated into territorial scale.
The project provides a novel solution for the community park in Guiyang, China. A resilient design with a minimum of intervention that respects the site and highlights the local karst geography and former land use. As a result, the community park successfully integrates a program of leisure activities for the public with the preservation of karst landscape formations on the one hand and a waterfront design to support the dynamic hydrological processes on the other.
