Uds Ltd.'s Strata Naha Hotel presents a masterful orchestration of biophilic design principles wherein the eye is immediately drawn to a graceful multi-stemmed tree rising from a rectangular planting bed filled with pale coral limestone rubble, its delicate branches ascending with organic asymmetry toward an implied overhead aperture, establishing the vertical axis around which all other elements organize themselves in harmonious counterpoint. The compositional architecture employs a sophisticated diagonal recession from the lower left foreground through the middle ground seating arrangements toward the reception desk positioned against a dramatic dry-stacked limestone wall that dominates the right background quadrant, creating a dynamic spatial narrative that guides the viewer through successive zones of intimacy and formality. The chromatic palette demonstrates remarkable restraint and sophistication, built upon a foundation of warm limestone whites and cream tones ranging from raw umber undertones in the stone rubble to pale Naples yellow in the smoother wall surfaces, punctuated by the rich mahogany and walnut tones of the wooden reception counter and its substantial organic root-form pedestals, while verdant cadmium yellow-green foliage provides vital chromatic relief against the predominantly neutral field. The project plans to create a unique 'city resort' hotel in the heart of Naha-city, Okinawa. The name "Strata" was inspired by the land's rich nature and culture, which means layers of earth; it aims to discover layers of preexisting cultural gems and adding new layers of value to the ongoing cultural contents. The project also aimed to create a hotel that connects with the local community; original textiles are incorporated in a modern interior design by collaborating with local traditional artisans.
