Warm honey-toned oak flooring stretches across Aaron Leppanen's Terrafertil Headquarter Offices, establishing an inviting material foundation that unifies two distinct spatial zones captured within a singular photographic frame bisected by a slender vertical mullion of deep steel blue. The left portion presents a reception lounge characterized by deliberate chromatic vivacity: a large-scale abstract painting composed of loosely rendered rectangular daubs in spectrum-spanning hues including cadmium red, cobalt blue, viridian, ochre yellow, magenta, and cerulean commands the grey concrete wall, its grid-like arrangement of organic brushstrokes creating visual rhythm against the industrial neutrality of exposed ceiling infrastructure. Beneath this chromatic focal point, a canary yellow upholstered armchair with tapered wooden legs converses with a teal-grey wingback chair, both positioned upon a soft dove-grey area rug that anchors the seating arrangement. A whimsical watermelon-patterned ottoman introduces playful biomorphic form, while verdant potted plants including a slender bamboo and sculptural cacti inject organic vitality. The right spatial zone reveals a dramatically different architectural gesture: faceted timber panels clad both ceiling and walls in angular geometric planes reminiscent of crystalline formations or folded origami, their warm cherry and blonde wood veneers creating dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Suspended spherical pendant luminaires in amber, clear, and frosted glass descend at varying heights above a white marble-topped conference table flanked by petroleum blue upholstered swivel chairs. Linear recessed lighting strips traverse the exposed concrete ceiling on the left while recessed downlights punctuate the wooden canopy on the right, establishing complementary yet contrasting illumination strategies. The compositional division creates productive tension between expressive informality and refined professionalism, suggesting a workplace philosophy balancing creativity with corporate purpose.
Terrafertil is a headquarters office interior in Quito, Ecuador. The workplace covers 350 square meters on one floor and combines open workstations with private offices. Two meeting rooms, the waiting area and the lobby are covered by a custom structure of 663 French oak panels, cut by computer controlled machines and held by a steel frame. The polygonal wooden forms divide the space, create privacy and recall the organic growth found in nature. Concrete and drywall contrast with the warmth of the wood. Custom textiles, wallpaper and furniture add color and light.
