Alvan Suen's Ricky's Kitchen Restaurant presents a breathtaking study in symmetrical spatial orchestration, where the viewer's eye is immediately captured by a luminous circular aperture at the compositional terminus, framing verdant bamboo foliage like a living moon gate that anchors the entire perspectival recession. The interior architecture employs rigorous one-point linear perspective, with the vanishing point precisely centered within this botanical medallion, creating an almost hypnotic visual corridor that draws the gaze inexorably forward through layers of carefully calibrated space. Flanking walls rise in dramatic waves of undulating dark forms, possibly ceramic or metal elements arranged in rhythmic horizontal striations that create a powerful sense of kinetic energy frozen in architectural permanence, their glossy surfaces capturing and fragmenting ambient illumination into countless points of reflected light. The chromatic palette operates within a sophisticated tonal range dominated by warm honey-amber wood tones of the dining surfaces, cool obsidian blacks of the textured wall treatments, and creamy ivory of the upholstered banquette seating that traces the perimeter. The ceiling treatment bifurcates dramatically, with a luminous central spine of slatted material diffusing soft zenithal illumination downward, creating a cathedral-like sense of vertical aspiration while maintaining intimate dining scale below. This overhead element reads as an inverted vessel or hull form, its warm white luminosity contrasting magnificently against the surrounding darkness. The floor surface achieves remarkable reflective quality, doubling the visual complexity by mirroring the ceiling structure and wall textures in liquid-like perfection, effectively dissolving the boundary between actual and reflected space. Table settings appear with minimalist precision, circular plates echoing the distant moon gate motif, establishing a dialogue of rounded forms against the predominantly linear architectural vocabulary. The spatial progression from foreground dining platforms through middle-ground circulation to the illuminated background terminus demonstrates masterful understanding of atmospheric depth construction, with figures visible in silhouette adding human scale and temporal animation to this otherwise architecturally dominated composition.

The project aims at reinterpreting and translating Hong Kong into visualization while keeping the brand identity. The material of the feature wall represents Hong Kong as a forest of concrete, the geometry renders the building facade with balconies and the density, and the lighting mimics the households. The middle LED ceiling symbolizes the “Linear Sky Exposure” of Hong Kong, the Leon lights imitate the highway under long exposure photography, symbolizing prosperous Hong Kong, speed and heavy traffic. For futuristic touch, LED trims and floating-like portal with bamboo are designed.
