Dengo 80g Chocolate Bar by Brazil & Murgel presents a striking overhead composition where a sculptural chocolate bar commands the visual center, its deeply faceted surface creating a rhythmic interplay of light and shadow that transforms confectionery into architectural form, with each segment displaying diagonal planes that catch illumination at varying angles to produce a sophisticated gradation from warm chestnut brown in shadowed recesses to luminous mahogany highlights along raised edges, the bar positioned with deliberate centrality upon a rectangular ceramic tray whose ribbed texture in warm taupe and cream tones establishes visual dialogue with the chocolate's geometric faceting, this secondary vessel itself resting upon a magnificent tropical leaf of saturated emerald green with prominent venation radiating from the central spine, the botanical element extending diagonally across the composition to create dynamic tension against the rigid rectilinear forms above, while the entire arrangement floats upon a dramatically dark surface of weathered charcoal-gray wood grain that provides maximum value contrast and grounds the composition in natural materiality, the lighting appears to descend from above and slightly forward, casting soft shadows beneath the leaf and tray while emphasizing the three-dimensional relief of the chocolate's crystalline surface geometry, the chromatic harmony operates through an analogous earth-tone palette of browns, tans, and creams punctuated by the complementary green of the leaf against the neutral gray ground, creating visual temperature shifts from warm chocolate center through cool green botanical to neutral background, spatial construction remains deliberately shallow with all elements arranged in compressed parallel planes that emphasize surface texture and material quality over illusionistic depth, the overhead viewpoint establishes an intimate relationship between viewer and object suggesting the contemplative moment before consumption, stylistically the composition resonates with contemporary food photography's emphasis on material authenticity and artisanal craft while the geometric chocolate surface suggests influences from origami, brutalist architecture, or crystallographic forms, the overall atmospheric register achieves quiet sophistication and reverent attention to sensory pleasure.
The design is inspired by the origin of Dengo's cacao – the heart of the Atlantic Forest in Bahia, Brazil. The cacao is harvested in cabruca, a traditional agroforestry and forest-positive system. In an effort to inspire, create brand recognition and convey the brand's message to the consumer, the designers turned the chocolate bar into a sculpture that represents some of the surrounding elements, such as dry leaves on the ground, foliage of the tall trees that provide beautiful play of light and shadow, and a variety of seeds.
