Valery Lizunov's Aprol Bar commands immediate attention through the dramatic interplay of warm amber and cool cobalt illumination that bathes this hospitality interior in a chromatic dialogue of extraordinary sophistication, where a monumental white sculptural figure suspended from the industrial ceiling creates a startling vertical axis that anchors the entire spatial composition while simultaneously subverting conventional expectations of classical statuary through its inverted orientation, the muscular male torso rendered in pristine gesso-white plaster descending headfirst into the viewer's space with arms positioned in dynamic tension suggestive of flight or diving, the anatomical precision of the sculpture contrasting magnificently with the raw concrete ceiling infrastructure and exposed mechanical systems painted in vermillion-orange that trace horizontal pathways across the upper register, the middle ground dominated by an elegantly proportioned bar counter extending in strong one-point perspective toward the luminous amber-lit back bar area where glassware catches and refracts the warm illumination like captured sunlight, decorative vessels in spherical and bulbous forms arranged along the counter surface in gradations of obsidian black, dove grey, and cream white creating a rhythmic counterpoint to the vertical stems of crimson-dyed pampas grass that rise like flames or ceremonial plumes, the seating area to the right featuring cylindrical stools upholstered in warm sand-colored fabric with contrasting dark bands that echo the industrial aesthetic while providing tactile comfort, dramatic oversized botanical elements in deep prussian blue-black tones punctuating the space like sculptural sentinels, the overall atmosphere achieving a remarkable synthesis of neoclassical grandeur, industrial rawness, and contemporary hospitality design that speaks to a sophisticated understanding of how opposing forces can be harmonized into unified experiential environments.
Aprol is a bar located on the top floor of a five-story building in the historical center of Moscow. The interior is designed in a pop art style, with orange as the main color, neon lighting, plants and large art objects. A six meter statue of David, printed in parts on a 3D printer, floats under the ceiling and is visible from outside. Six steam fireplaces are set into the low bar counter, so guests reach through the flames to take a glass. A panoramic window brings in daylight and opens a view of the old city.
